Every senior stallion must have this report.

Only the version of the AMHA is valid, not from a different stukbook. The form must be fully completed and bear a stamp of the veterinarian or a license number of the veterinarian.

Without this form, a senior stallion may not start on an AMHA approved show.

AOTE stands for Amateur Owned, Trained, and Exhibited.

A AOTE horse may only be cared for, trained and handled by the AOTE or a non profesional family member.
If you want to start a horse in 2014 in a AOTE Class you should follow all the AOTE rules from January 1st 2014 otherwise you can’t start the horse in AOTE that season. If a lessee want to start in AOTE the horse must be on lease before Januari 1st that year.

Someone who has a professional trainer in the family or in the same stable as may not start in AOTE.

Everything that comes with the care for the horse must be done by the AOTE itself. Exceptions are the farrier, vet and dentist.

All training including sweaten and wrapping must be done by the AOTE itself.

Is the horse in co-ownership with a non-family member then it may not be shown/cared for/trained by the non-family member as long as the horse is showed in AOTE.

When a AOTE has several horses in a Champion Class, another person with Amateur status may present a AOTE horse in this Champion Class.

A AOTE horse may be held and petted with bare hand by anyone. In an emergency, of course, everyone may help the horse.

A AOTE horse may be transported by someone else and be fed and watered on the way.

Upon a sale or when the horse is no longer showing in AOTE you should always fill-in and send in the AOTE Opt-out form before the horse can be showed by somebody else.

For all the AOTE rules, please take a look at the AMHA Rulebook.

Until the age of 19 you can participate in a Youth Class.

The Youth is divided into different age levels. It is the actual age on January 1th that counts. So if you will be on March 3th 15 years, you were on January 1st still 14 years and that’s the age division you should start in the whole season.

To participait in a Youth Class you need a AMHA Youth Card.
These can be purchased through the AMHA or on the show itself. This card you purchase once and remains valid until the age of 19 years.

If you want to participate in an Amateur Class, you must take several things into account.

You may participate in an Amateur Class if you’re an adult. If you are still 18 years on Januari 1st you should start in the Youth.

The horse you want to start in Amateur must be in your name. You can also lease a horse, you must show a lessee agreement for the AMHA then.

Furthermore, you need to have an Amateur Card. It shows what level you are in the Amateur halter and performance. This card can be requested at the AMHA or the show itself. This card is valid untill December 31th of that calendar year, and should be re-applied every year.

For all the Amateur rules, please take a look at the AMHA Rulebook.

Each AMHA registered horse must have papers from the AMHA.
It shows all the details of the horse, such as: name, AMHA number, color, breeder, origin, ect.
On the back of the paper is all kinds of information such as transfers to a new owner.
This AMHA paper (or a color photocopy of the front and back) you should always take it to show and when you register it inserts a copy of both the front and back of the paper.

There are two types of paper: Temporary Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Registration

As the name suggests, the Temporary Certificate of Registration of a temporary paper. This paper has also an expiration date. You can still participate in a show until 6 months after the date has expired, then you can not participate in an AMHA approved show with this paper. This temporary paper is valid until the horse is three years, then you must send the paper and to transfer it in a Certificate of Registration. If this is not done then the paper will Revoked (the paper is pulled back) and is no longer valid. Then you have to paid a fine to get it permanent.

A Certificate of Registration is a final paper, that you do not need to convert unless the horse change ownership or for example, when a stallion is gelded.

As the name suggests, this class is all about the most beautiful spotted horse.
The horses walk together in a circle around the judges, on both sides. This will be 80% of your scoring is, purely based on the color of your horse. The judges will look for a nice, shining, healthy color and symmetry of the spots.
After this, the horses are set up and the last 20% of your scoring will be determined on basis of the conformation of the horse.
The handler must be dressed neatly, for example a suit or slacks with a nice shirt with long sleeves. If you have long hair make sure that does not cover your start number on your back.

As the name suggests, this class is all about the most beautiful equal colord horse.

A competitor must walk a preset pattern of various obstacles.

The obstacle course will be posted at the Show Office not less than two hours prior to the class. Before the class starts the judges, the track degisner and all participants will walk the course. The course has a minimum of five obstacles and a maximum of eight.

Suggested Obstacles:
Walk through or out of obstacle
Walk through water or simulated water
Walk through narrow passage
Walk across bridge or simulated bridge
Walk pattern created with poles, pylons, (figure 8, serpentine, cloverleaf, etc.)
Take a jump
Open an umbrella
Ground Tie

Try to be no more than 60 seconds with an obstacle. If your horse doesn’t want to do an obstacle then just go on to the next after you have tried. If you take unnecessary time at one obstacle you get penalized for it. The entire course must be run at a walk or trot. Cantering will be penalized. The ostacles should be carried out in walk or trot, depending on the trail.

Baiting of horses to encourage an animal to perform any of the jumps is not allowed.
The handler should be properly dressed, think of a suit or slacks and a blouse with long sleeves. If you have long hair make sure that it is not covering you number on your back. Horses may ware a tidy clean halter(not a showhalter) and leadline. A stud chain may be used, provided it is not worn over the nose or through the mouth. Braiding of mane and tail is optional. Don’t use your hands on your horse, that’s not allowed.

This class will be judged on overall performance, cooperation, willingness of the horse and of course how the obstacles are taken.

Causes for elimination:
Taking an obstacle in the wrong direction
Skipping an obstacle unless directed by judge
Negotiating obstacles in the wrong sequence
Baiting
Not go through the finisch line
Side pass the wrong end of horse in the obstacle
This will result in elimination.

Participating horses must be at least 2 years old.

A very unique and also challenging class

Participants must wear gloves, hat, pants and blouse or jacket with long sleeves. Even in hot weather when there is an exemption for long sleeves at the Showmanship should still be worn long sleeves. The hair should be pinned up in a bun, you may also use a hearnet. Not wearing a hat or other clothing required will result in disqualification.

The horse must be clean, preferably completely clipped. If the horse isn’t completly clipped you have at least clip the inside of the ears, long hair from the jaw line and long hairs on the legs. Mane and tail should be loose, clean and tangle free. Horses may ware a tidy clean halter(not a showhalter) and leadline. A stud chain may be used, provided it is not worn over the nose or through the mouth. The conformation of the is will nog be judged.

The following points can be earned:
10 point for appearance of the handler
40 point for appearance of the horse
50 points for showing the horse

As shown below, there are nine possible patterns that can be asked on show. It is therefore wise to exercise all patterns. At least 2 hours prior to the class, the pattern that is required is showed at the showoffice, so that it can be viewed. The patterns also show which parts should be performed in walk and in trot and how many degrees the turns are. Pattern 1 is the easiest and pattern 9 is the hardest.

The set up for the judge is also by a fixed pattern. You will step over in front of the horse, depending where the judge is (see picture below).

You are always on the left side of your horse, all turns are to the right. It’s all about appearance, therefore walk confidently into the ring. When coing backwards or sideways don’t touch the horse with your hands.

At the set-up your horse should stand square but you can’t use your hands to set the horses feet. At turning your horse should turn to the right and keep his right hind leg on it’s place. Old lefty’s are accepted.

Baiting of horses to encourage an animal to perform is not allowed.

This is a brief information because there are so many details in this class. It is certainly advisable if you like the showmanship, to follow a clinic or visit someone who can help you.

Vallende balk
Aanraken van een balk
Wijgering
Bokken of trappen
Schrikachtig gedrag
Wegdrukken van de staart

Diskwalificatie volgt bij:
3 weigeringen
Over de start/finish lijn gaan tijdens je parcours
Je eigen pad kruisen
Val van een paard of handler
Springen van een hindernis door een handler
Vasthouden/bij je hebben van een zweep
Kreupel paard
Niet over de start/finish lijn gaan

Deelnemende paarden moeten minimaal 3 jaar zijn.

The jumper class is a preset course of jumps with exhibitor leading the horse at hand through the course.

The obstacle course will be posted at the Show Office not less than two hours prior to the class. Before the class starts the judges, the track degisner and all participants will walk the course.

After the first round, all faultless horses go through to the second round where the obstacles will be raised. The obstacles are each round raised 15 cm or more. In the event of a tie as the maximum height of the obstacles is reached the horses we re-jump the last course until there is no tie anymore.

The course may be done in walk, trot and canter. Horses may ware a tidy clean halter(not a showhalter) and leadline. A stud chain may be used, provided it is not worn over the nose or through the mouth. Braiding of mane and tail is optional. The handler should be properly dressed, think of a suit or slacks and a blouse with long sleeves. If you have long hair make sure that it is not covering you number on your back. Protective boots and bell boots are allowed on the front legs.
Baiting of horses to encourage an animal to perform any of the jumps is not allowed.

Scoring:

A drivingwhip must be on the cart or in drivers hand at all times. The whip in single hitch, must reach the shoulder of the horse. Absence of the whip or alternate lengths may result in disqualification.

Gentlemen can wear a hat, jacket, shirt, tie and slacks. Ladies can wear a dress, twopiece or long skirt with blouse or jacket.
A hat for ladies is optional. Gloves for both are optional. You can choose to wear a ridingcap instead of a hat.
Entrynumber must be worn on the drivers back or back of the cart.

During the line-up, each combination is allowed a header in the ring. Header must be at least 13 years old and dressed correctly in slacks and jacket or longsleeved shirt. A header is NOT allowed to speak to the combination whilst in the ring and must stand two paces away from the head of the horse unless it is neccesary to aid the driver in controlling the horse.

It is mandatory to drive with blinders and over/sidecheck.
Talking to the horse is allowed but only in soft voice. No yelling or whistling allowed. Less talk the better.
A martingale is allowed. On any shankbit, however, a martingale is strictly forbidden.
Shanks are allowed but there are constrictions in the attachement of the reins. Please check the pictures below.

Participating horses must be at least 3 years old.
